Music

Music has always played an important role in my life. One of my favourite artists is Dan Fogelberg. On this page you can listen to two clips of songs composed by Dan Fogelberg, sung by Roy Bocken (fellow student at the teacher's academy) and me. Roy also played piano. These are not professional recordings. You'll hear two young guys who just enjoyed making music together in their spare time. The songs were recorded in 1981 and 1982 in the living room of my guitar teacher (Bert Bessems, former member of Partner and now member of René Innemee & The Revival Band and Fandango), using a 4-track PortaStudio.
I have added these clips to my site also to commemorate Dan and Roy. Roy, who sadly died much too young in 1998. Dan, who died on 12/16/2007 of cancer, 56 years of age.

Apart from being a very gifted musician, Dan was also a good photographer. Some of his work was published in 1987 in the book "Photographs By Dan Fogelberg".
A present from one photographer to the other: the original print of the first photograph in the book with the crop markings for publishing on it. The yellow Post-It sticker was attached to the print when I received it, summer 1997.

On the day Dan passed away, the band Venice performed Dan's song "Stars" as a tribute during a show on the evening of that same day. Having heard about this, I contacted them and asked them if they would be willing to do this tribute also the next time they would be in the Netherlands. And so they did on May 16th 2008 during their show in Apeldoorn. Luckily somebody made this video footage.
